0 Question: What is the Raspberry Pi? Keywords: computer, hardware, Raspberry Pi Asked by wf0002 to Peter, Andy on 22 Jan 2015. This question was also asked by rebeccaj.
Andy Hearn answered on 22 Jan 2015:
A Raspberry Pi is a tiny credit-card sized computer, yeah that’s right, a computer!
The main use for them is to let school students play around with them, and build things.
The official website tells it the best: http://www.raspberrypi.org/help/what-is-a-raspberry-pi/
A bit more on what you can do with them: http://www.raspberrypi.org/resources/make/
The Raspberry Pi computers themselves: http://www.raspberrypi.org/products/ (Go for the model B+ !)
Loads of people have used the Pi to do all sort of things, even send them up to space inside a teddy bear on a high-altitude balloon, and create a home supercomputer with lots of Pis and Lego 🙂
